CF Toronto Eaton Centre Wins 2020 International Architecture Award
- Détails
The CF Toronto Eaton Centre pedestrian bridge has won a 2020 International Architecture Award in the ‘Bridges and Infrastructure’ category. It is the only Canadian project to receive the honour this year. RJC was the structural engineer for this highly aesthetic bridge, designed by architects WilkinsonEyre and Zeidler, built by PCL Construction and developed by Cadillac Fairview.
The winning projects premiered at the Contemporary Space Athens in Greece. Projects are featured in an exhibition entitled "The City and the World" which will travel Europe for the remainder of 2020. 41 nations were represented in this year's submissions.
The CF Toronto Eaton Centre pedestrian bridge is a stunning addition to the landmark Eaton Centre in Toronto. The new 100ft long bridge is clad in bent glass and warped bronze panels with a steel spine concealed in the floor assembly. The shape of the enclosure transitions from rectangular at one end to a decagon that matches the existing Hudson Bay entrance at the other end. The result is a twisting helical form that surrounds the occupants in glass and blurs the line between vertical and horizontal. A truly unique structure.
