RJC’s Windermere Fire Station #31 receives Award of Excellence
- Détails
RJC Engineers’ (RJC) Windermere Fire Station 31 has won a 2018 Canadian Architect Award of Excellence. Of the 190 professional and student submissions received for this year’s awards program, only seven projects were selected by a jury and presented with the Award of Excellence. The annual Canadian Architect Awards recognizes architectural firms and students from across Canada handing out top honours for design proposals that exemplify qualities of innovation and overall design excellence, as well as social and environmental sustainability.
Windermere Fire Station 31 will serve a new community in Southwest Edmonton, bordered by the North Saskatchewan River and the Whitemud Creek Ravine. The 15,000 sq. ft. structure is set to obtain LEED Silver certification and Net Zero.
The station will be a post-disaster, non-combustible, sprinklered building with complete FRS Station Alerting System and street Opticon lighting controls. The station design will incorporate various sustainable initiatives such as passive solar gain, solar shadowing, in-slab heating, load shedding, geothermal heat pump and photo-voltaic roof top panels.
This project is scheduled for completion late 2019.
