Patrick Hughson

BASc, P.Eng. | Associate

A passion for structural design combined with honed skills in contract administration, project management, and relationship building elevate Patrick’s career in restoration engineering. He mentors junior engineers and actively creates efficient workflow systems for RJC’s Building Science and Restoration team. His aptitude for organizational management and capacity to manage and deliver restoration projects for high-profile property managers and developers makes him a trusted resource.

Patrick’s experience includes many services offered by RJC’s Building Science and Restoration practice areas. He responds quickly to commercial building managers and operators, often as a Prime Consultant coordinating other disciplines. He is well-versed in fall protection system design and assessment, structural reviews for tenant renovations, parking deck assessments and repair programs, post-tensioning system monitoring and repairs, and building envelope applications for rooftop restorations. Patrick and his team perform structural capacity analyses on structures from varying construction eras, providing supplemental reinforcing construction details to assist in achieving clients’ visions. These designs can involve specialty structural engineering for concrete, wood, or cold-form steel.

While at Queen’s University, Patrick was part of award-winning teams for engineering competitions. He joined RJC after completing his degree and quickly became intimately familiar with engineering practices for the maintenance of concrete slabs and post-tensioning systems. He began networking within the commercial property industry, and over a decade later, these relationships continue to provide mutual success.
