Commonwealth Community Recreation Centre and Field House
The Commonwealth Community Recreation Centre (CCRC) is a 172,000 sq. ft. addition to the existing Commonwealth Stadium and Recreation Centre (making the entire facility, not including the stadium, in excess of 215,000 sq. ft. in total).
The project was delivered using Construction Management methodology.The design and construction consisted of three phases under one roof; a new indoor practice facility for the EE Football Team, the renovation and expansion of the existing EE Football Team facilities, and the Community Recreation Centre.
The project is LEED® Silver certified.
The new fieldhouse houses a half-regulation size indoor football field, a second level running track, weight room and fitness facilities.
The suspended structure consists entirely of structural steel, including roof trusses that clear span the 68-metre space.Renovations included expanded locker rooms, additional meeting and office space, as well as structural upgrades to the existing gymnasium roof.
Commonwealth Community Recreation Centre consists of an aquatics centre housing a 25-metre pool, leisure pool, waterslide, whirlpool and steam rooms, additional space for fitness equipment and fitness classes, community rooms, and administrative office space.
