The Lodge at Métis Crossing
The Lodge at Métis Crossing is a new award-winning boutique lodge located on historical Métis river lots along the North Saskatchewan River near Smoky Lake, AB.
The Lodge at Métis Crossing was designed and built to honour and reflect the legacy of the adventurous, entrepreneurial, and resilient spirit of the Métis culture.The Lodge consists of 40 luxury rooms with 20 rooms on each floor including six accessible rooms.
Each room features a private patio/balcony space providing views of either the river to the south or the expansive property to the north.
The Lodge is connected via pedway to the Cultural Gathering Centre and other nearby outdoor attractions on the property include a traditional harvesting camp, walking trails, a playground, outdoor stage, farmyard, and culturally authentic activities like archery, canoeing, and trapper tents.
The Lodge at Métis Crossing holds great significance as a project that supports Indigenous communities and promotes cultural tourism showcasing the rich cultural traditions of the Métis people.RJC provided structural engineering for the design of the lodge that features a glulam core as its central lobby space, and conventional lumber framing in the building wings for the suites.
RJC also provided structural engineering consulting for the pedway that connects The Lodge to the adjacent Cultural Gathering Centre.
